Vol. 123 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cleaning of County Kerry Drain.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state whether an application was made for the cleaning of a drain in the townlands of Kilmakilloge and Derryrush, E.D. Ardea; whether a survey has been made relative to the proposal, and if and when the work is likely to be carried out.

An application was received some time ago for the cleaning of the drain in question but, as I am sure the Deputy is aware, drainage works can seldom be economically carried out during the winter—which is the time when the employment schemes programme is in operation in rural areas. If, however, the landholders concerned are prepared to make the required contribution under the Rural Improvements Scheme the proposal will be considered for execution during next spring and summer.
