Vol. 123 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Donabate Housing.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state how much land has been acquired in Donabate for the building of council cottages and how many houses will be built thereon and when.

A site of five acres three roods was acquired by the Dublin County Council at Ballalease West, Donabate, on which a scheme of 12 houses has just been completed.

I understand that the council are negotiating for the acquisition of a further site of eight acres, which adjoins the existing scheme, and which if acquired would satisfy the remaining housing needs of the Donabate district, which are estimated at 54 new houses, I am not in a position at this stage to state when this scheme will be commenced as the question of a water and sewerage scheme for the area must be considered. In this connection a consultant engineer has been appointed, and I understand that the question of water and sewerage schemes for the area is now under active consideration by the council.
