Vol. 123 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Labourers' Cottages.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will make arrangements whereby original applicants who procure sites for labourers' cottages may be allocated such cottages without advertisement by the local authorities.

The statutory requirements governing the allocation of cottages place certain difficulties in the way of giving effect to the Deputy's suggestion. I am, however, aware of the desirability of allocating cottages to genuine agricultural workers who are in a position to provide or secure sites, and I am considering the means of enabling this to be done.
