Vol. 124 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Coast-Watching Service.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he is aware of the urgent necessity for the establishment of a coast-watching service at appropriate centres from Valentia to Kenmare on the South Kerry coast; and if so, whether he will make the necessary arrangements in the matter at the earliest possible date.

The Coast Life Saving Service maintains a watch for vessels in distress at certain selected points around the coast at night time during periods of bad weather. The organisation of the service and the points at which watches are kept are constantly under review and the Deputy's representations will be borne in mind in considering the service on the South Kerry coast.
