Vol. 124 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Kerry Water and Sewerage Schemes.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will indicate (1) the water and sewerage schemes which are being provided for in the South Kerry area for the coming financial year, and (2) the schemes for which application was made and sanction is still awaited.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state what provision has been, or will be made, in the coming financial year for the installation of a sewerage scheme for Sneem and a water-scheme for Dungegan and Ballinskelligs, County Kerry.

asked the Minister for Local Government if the carrying out of a sewerage scheme for Rathmore and a water and sewerage scheme for Milltown is to be undertaken during the course of the coming financial year.

With your permission, a Chinn Chomhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 49, 50 and 51 together.

The present position with regard to sanitation schemes in South Kerry is as follows:—

Commencement of an approved water supply scheme at Cahirciveen is awaiting the delivery of materials to the contractor. Two-thirds of the contract for the water supply improvement scheme for Killarney has been completed. Revised plans in respect of a sewerage scheme for Waterville have been referred back to the local authority with suggestions for possible improvement.

The following further schemes are included in the county council's programme for South Kerry:—

Rathmore, sewerage; Milltown, water supply and sewerage; Farran-fore, water supply; Dungegan and Ballinskelligs, water supply; and Sneem, sewerage. The appointment of consultants to prepare plans for the sewerage scheme for Rathmore and the water supply and sewerage schemes for Milltown has been approved.

I am not in a position to say how much of the foregoing programme of works will be completed during the course of the coming financial year.
