Vol. 124 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Fermoy Barracks Repairs.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state whether Fermoy Urban Council are proceeding with repairs to the six houses known as the married quarters in Fermoy new barracks and, if not, whether he will ensure that the council carry out this work immediately as there is a scarcity in housing accommodation for married serving soldiers stationed in Fermoy.

The lease by the Minister for Defence of portion of the Fermoy new barracks to the urban council has as yet not been completed. In the circumstances, the council have, as yet, no right of entry on the site to repair the six married quarters to be acquired by them. My Department has been assured by the assistant county manager that there will be no avoidable delay in commencing repair works on the houses in question as soon as the lease is completed.
