Vol. 124 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Proposed County Galway Bridges.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state (a) when the question of the erection of a bridge to Lettermullen, County Galway, was first submitted to his Department, and (b) when work on the erection of this bridge will start.

The Department was informed in October, 1941, that bridges on the route between Lettermullen and the mainland had become unsafe and that it was necessary to restrict the weight and speed of traffic passing over these bridges. No final submission has been made by the Galway County Council who, it is understood, are awaiting final designs for two new bridges from their consulting engineer. I am not in a position to say when work on the new bridges will start.
