Vol. 124 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - University College, Dublin, Salaries.

asked the Minister for Finance whether he is aware that there is grave dissatisfaction among the lower-paid members of the staff of University College, Dublin, because of the way in which moneys provided by Dáil Éireann for increases in emoluments for University College, Dublin, under Supplementary Vote 22 passed in December last are being allocated in such a way as considerably to increase the salaries of the more highly-paid professors and lecturers; and whether he will state on what basis the moneys for increased salaries were calculated.

The position in regard to the allocation of the additional financial assistance provided for the various university institutions by the recent Supplementary Vote for Universities and Colleges was explained by me during the discussion in the Dáil in December last and I would refer the Deputy to the official record of the proceedings.

I have no information about the matter referred to in the opening part of the question.
