Vol. 124 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Acquisition of Tipperary Lands.

Pádraig Ó Cuinneáin

asked the Minister for Lands whether the Land Commission have considered the propriety of acquiring the O'Rourke estate of 75 acres at Graiguebeg, Templemore, for the purpose of division among the uneconomic holders of the area; and, if so, with what result.

This question appears to refer to the holding of Mr. P. O'Rourke, formerly owned by Mr. James Dwyer and comprising 175 acres in Knockanroe. Proceedings are well advanced for the resumption of the holding.

Pádraig Ó Cuinneáin

asked the Minister for Lands whether the Land Commission have considered the propriety of acquiring for the purpose of division among the uneconomic holders of the area the Kavanagh estate at Graiguebeg, Templemore; and, if so, with what result.

Proceedings are in progress for the acquisition of the lands of Rossanamanniff Upper and for the resumption of the lands of Knockanroe held by Mrs. Grace Kavanagh.

asked the Minister for Lands whether the Land Commission have considered the propriety of acquiring the Murray-Moore estate at Barn, Clonmel, consisting of 800 acres for division among local congests and landless men, and, if so, with what result.

This estate has been inspected and a decision as to acquisition will be taken shortly. I understand the lands comprise 188 acres not 800.

asked the Minister for Lands whether the Land Commission have considered the propriety of acquiring the Kennedy estate, at Castleblake, Rosegreen, Fethard, consisting of 400 acres for division among local congests and landless men and, if so, with what result.

The Land Commission considered acquiring these lands and, as I have already informed the Deputy, decided not to take any action for the present towards acquisition.
