Vol. 124 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Sale of Farm.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state whether he is aware that Mr. Joseph Loftus, Ballycurrane, sold his farm at Ballycurrane, Crossmolina, to Mr. Willie Connor, Crossmolina, and that Mr. Connor has already a large farm at Crossmolina and another large farm near Dublin, and, if so, whether the Land Commission have considered the propriety of sanctioning the sale of this farm to Mr. Connor instead of taking it over and dividing it amongst uneconomic holders in the immediate vicinity with valuations of from around £3 or £4 and with what result.

These lands being vested, the owner was at liberty to sell without seeking permission from the Land Commission. The Land Commission considered the acquisition of the lands and decided not to acquire them.
