Vol. 124 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Timber Reserves.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state the quantity and value of the stores of timber in reserve to meet the national needs of building and other purposes.

The information supplied to me by the larger timber merchants is that at present they hold between them stocks of softwood timber amounting in all to some 18,000 petrograd standards.

I have no information about the stocks held by persons other than the larger timber merchants.

On the basis of the maximum prices at which softwoods may be sold, the total value of these stocks might be placed at approximately £1,500,000.
