Vol. 124 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Price of Bacon.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state whether he is aware that it is the general opinion in County Waterford that the price of bacon is to be increased by as much as 1/- per lb.; and, if so, whether it is correct; and, if not, whether he will make a statement that will set the minds of the housewives at rest about the expected increase.

I am not aware that it is the general opinion in County Waterford that bacon is to be increased by 1/- per lb.

Under the Prices and Charges (Standstill) Order, 1951, no person may charge a higher price for any description of bacon than he charged in the week ended 2nd December, 1950. The question of the revision of these prices is at present under consideration and it is expected that an announcement in the matter will be made in the near future.
