Vol. 124 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Sewerage and Water Scheme.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state the date on which the Cappoquin-Lismore sewerage and water scheme will commence, the present position of the scheme and the reason for the long delay in its being started.

Proposals are being prepared by the Waterford County Council for the provision of a joint water supply to Lismore and Cappoquin. No proposals have been made in respect of a sewerage scheme.

The water supply scheme as originally outlined was considered unsuitable and the submission of revised plans is awaited. I am not, therefore, in a position to state when work will commence on the scheme.

Delay has been experienced in the preparation of the scheme including the selection and gauging of sources of supply, the location of service reservoirs, the routing of the pipe lines and the location and nature of treatment works.
