Vol. 124 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Provision of Turbary.

asked the Minister for Lands if, in view of the urgent necessity for the production of increased turf supp lies by private producers, he will request the Land Commission to divide among deserving app licants the large tracts of bogs already in their possession; and, further, if the Land Commission will consider the propriety of immediately acquiring for division the many large tracts of bogs in the country, especially in the turf areas.

A considerable number of bogs is being allotted or will be allotted by the Land Commission in time for the coming turf-cutting season. Any bog which cannot be allotted this season will be let wherever possible.

As regard the acquisiton of further areas of bogs, the Land Commission will continue to consider the acquisition of any turbary required for their purposes.
