Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Service of Former Civil Servant.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state the date on which Mr. D.J. O'Donovan, recently secretary of the Department of Social Welfare, joined the Civil Service of Dáil Éireann, the Dáil Departments in which he served and his grade in each such Department.

According to the official records, Mr. O'Donovan joined the Civil Service of Dáil Éireann on the 8th July, 1919. He served in that service as a clerk in the Departments of Finance and Propaganda and as an inspector in the Department of Local Government.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state (i) the date from which the service of Mr. D.J. O'Donovan, recently secretary of the Department of Social Welfare, was counted for the purpose of calculating the pension granted to him when he ceased to hold the office aforementioned, and (ii) the number of years' service on which such pension was accordingly based.

Mr. O'Donovan's service was counted for pension was the 8th July, 1919, and his pension was accordingly based on 31 years' service.
