Vol. 124 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Tullamore Dwelling.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether he is aware that Mr. John Sweeney, Arden Road, Tullamore, Offaly, resides in a house the property of Tullamore Urban District Council and that the house is at least four feet under the road level, that the kitchen is in complete darkness during the daytime, and that there are a number of steps going down to the entrance of Mr. Sweeney's residence, who carries on a shop, which are considered dangerous, as no public light is convenient to his premises; and, if so, whether he will request the urban district council to improve existing conditions for Mr. Sweeney, or have sanction given to a reduction in his rent in view of his house being under road level to such an extent.

A report on this matter will be obtained from the local authority and I shall then communicate with the Deputy by letter.
