Vol. 124 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Cork Water Supp lies.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state the cause of the delay in carrying out the proposed water supply scheme for Ballyclough village, County Cork.

The bills of quantities and other documents which were awaited in connection with this scheme were submitted in January last and approved in the same month. I understand that tenders are now being invited by the county council.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state the cause of the delay in carrying out the proposed water supply scheme for Churchtown village, County Cork.

Preliminary proposals for a water supply for Churchtown were submitted in June, 1950. The scheme did not form part of the county council's agreed programme of sanitation works and it was necessary to establish that its relative urgency justified its being proceeded with in advance of other schemes previously described by the sanitary authority as more urgent. This point has now been cleared up and the county council has been asked to submit reports on the sources of supply which have been proposed for the scheme.
