Vol. 124 No. 12

Committee on Finance. - Vote 67—Health.

I move:—

That a supplementary sum not exceeding £10 be granted to defray the Charge which will come in course of payment during the year ending 31st March, 1951, for the salaries and expenses of the Office of the Minister for Health, and certain Services administered by that Office, including Grants to local authorities, miscellaneous Grants and a Grant-in-Aid and certain charges connected with Hospitals.

This Vote is required to enable the Grant-in-Aid of the National Blood Transfusion Association for the current year to be increased from £18,200 to £20,700. The additional sum of £2,500 is required to meet the cost of one year's reserve supply of necessary equipment and apparatus for blood transfusion. In view of the present international situation there should be no need for me to stress the advisability of purchasing these reserve stocks without delay.

Of the additional sum required, £2,490 can be provided from estimated savings on sub-head A of the Vote for this Department. The net sum required is therefore £10.

Question put and agreed to.
