Vol. 124 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Flour Mill Costings' System.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will state what progress has been made towards the establishment of the uniform costings system in flour mills, referred to by him in Question No. 26 of the 22nd February, 1951, and when he expects the system to be in general operation.

The costing documents completed by flour millers consist of basic costing records referred to as standard costs supplemented by detailed monthly information in regard to wheat purchases and flour production. The standard costs have been completed by all the 36 licensed flour mills. In 25 cases the standard costs have been examined in my Department and amended where necessary. In 11 cases, however, it has not been found possible to complete the examination of the standard costs either because they were received late or because certain additional information required is still outstanding. I am not yet in a position to state when the examination of these outstanding cases will be completed.
