Vol. 125 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Tillage Crops—Increased Production Drive.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if, in view of his recent appeal for increased production of all tillage crops, he will state the minimum acreage of (1) wheat; (2) barley; (3) oats; (4) beet and (5) potatoes necessary to meet national requirements.

In view of the impossibility of assessing in advance the yields of home-grown crops it is not possible to furnish the information required.

However, I have already stated on many occasions and would like to emphasise again that it is essential that the maximum acreage should be put under tillage this year.

"Grow more wheat."

But, in this case, not on my neighbour's land.
