Vol. 125 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Garda Síochána Investigation.

Mr. Byrne

asked the Minister for Justice if he will state the result of the investigation into the pay and conditions of service of the Garda Síochána and if they will be improved at an early date.

No special investigation has been or is being made into the pay and conditions of the Garda Síochána, but a request by the Garda Síochána Representative Body in December last for a revision of rates of pay is under consideration.

Mr. Byrne

Can the Minister say when he will be able to give the result of the consideration?

I am unable to say that, but I will undertake to see that there is no avoidable delay.
