Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Established and Unestablished Civil Servants.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state the numbers of (a) established and (b) unestablished civil servants and the amount of the expenditure on remuneration and allowances under each heading at the beginning of 1951.

As the reply is in the form of a tabular statement, I propose, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, to have it circulated with the Official Report.

Following is the reply:—

Figures relating to the beginning of the year 1951 are not yet available. The following statement, however, shows the position as at 2nd January, 1950.

The figures given above do not include numbers and costs of (a) persons employed on Relief Schemes, (b) persons employed on a fee basis and (c) artisans, labourers, etc., employed on schemes or works of a temporary nature (other than Relief Schemes) who are not regarded as Civil Servants.
