Vol. 125 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Mitchelstown Courthouse.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state the reason for the delay in approving of the plans for Mitchelstown Courthouse as prepared by the consulting architect to Cork County Council and forwarded to his Department some months ago.

The plan of this courthouse is designed to incorporate a library and boardroom on the first floor of the building. It is considered that this portion of the plan could be redesigned to provide more ample accommodation for the library. The matter has been referred back to the council and a reply from them is awaited.

Is the Minister aware that it was through the action of a subordinate official that all this question was raised and that the Cork County Council as a whole, with their executive officers, decided on this plan as submitted by Mr. Boyd Barrett?

It is a matter for consultation. We are awaiting a reply from the council.

The point I am raising is, is the Minister aware that it was through a subordinate official that all this thing was raised?
