Vol. 125 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - School Meals.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare whether he is aware that no school meals are made available to school children attending Bodeshill and Shanacashel National Schools, Glencar; and, if so, whether he will take steps to see that the school meals scheme is extended to this district.

There is no record in my Department of a school named Bodeshill, and I assume that the Deputy's question relates to the Boheshill National School. That school and the Shanacashel National School, Glencar, County Kerry, are not situated in one of the district electoral divisions in the Kerry Gaeltacht scheduled in the School Meals (Gaeltacht) Act, 1930, and, therefore, are not eligible to participate in the scheme for the supply of school meals.

Fresh legislation would be necessary for an extension of the scheme.
