Vol. 125 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Bourn Vincent Park Workers' Wages.

asked the Minister for Finance whether he is aware of the necessity for increasing the wages of the tradesmen employed in the Bourn Vincent Park, Killarney, and if he is now in a position to grant such increase.

A claim by these tradesmen for an increase of their wages is at present under consideration and a decision will be taken as soon as possible.

Mr. Flynn

Is the Parliamentary Secretary aware that the wages paid to these tradesmen is less than the Killarney town rate and that no man with a family could live on the £2 17s. 6d. wages paid to the other workers? As this question has been under discussion for three years, could the Parliamentary Secretary see his way to make a decent effort to meet the requirements of these workers?

As I told the Deputy in my reply, an increase of the tradesmen's wages is at present under consideration and also the wages of the other workers, and we expect a decision in the near future.
