Vol. 125 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Reen Pier Improvement.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state whether he is aware that representations were made over a year ago for the improvement of Reen Pier, Ballinskelligs, and to clear obstructions on the approaches thereto; and, if so, whether sanction has been given to a grant for putting the scheme into operation and when the work is likely to begin.

A grant of 75 per cent. of the estimated cost (£860) of improving and extending the old pier at Ballinskelligs and clearing boulders from the seaward approaches thereto has been sanctioned. The work will be started as soon as possible, but owing to the preoccupation of the available engineering staff of the Commissioners of Public Works with many other important marine works, including a number in County Kerry, it may not be found possible to put it in hands this year.
