Vol. 125 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Baltimore Harbour Grant.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state the amount of the grant proposed for Baltimore Harbour under the Harbour Acts.

An application for a grant to meet the cost of extending the pier at Baltimore was submitted to my Department in June, 1948. As there were no commercial interests involved and as the proposed works were stated to be in the interests of the fishing industry the harbour board was advised to make their representations to the Minister for Agriculture. I understand that the Minister for Agriculture has examined the proposals and that he informed the harbour board that he did not feel that a case existed from the fishery point of view for incurring the expenditure involved in the structural work proposed.
