asked the Minister for Defence if he is aware that the widow of a soldier of the Irish Republic executed by the British authorities is only entitled to an allowance of 17/6 a week under the Army Pensions Act, 1923 (Case 1/D/134); and, if so, whether he will introduce proposals for legislation to amend that Act so as to enable an increased allowance to be paid to the widow.

I am aware that the person referred to in the Deputy's question is entitled to an allowance not exceeding 17/6 per week under the Army Pensions Act, 1923. I propose to examine this and similar cases to see what can be done in regard to them.
