Vol. 125 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Lighting of Garda Barracks.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state the cause of the delay in the installation of electric light in the Garda barracks at Shannonbridge, Offaly.

The departmental request for this work, which it is intended to carry out in the current financial year, was received by the Commissioners of Public Works in November last, and I am not aware that there has been any undue delay in dealing with it.

Could the Minister request the responsible Minister to have this work carried out with the least possible delay, in view of the fact that it is considered that the Garda Barracks in Shannonbridge, which is an old building, requires electric light for the convenience of the Garda officers as well as of the general public that would have recourse to the barracks?

I will bring the matter to the notice of the Parliamentary Secretary.
