Vol. 125 No. 6

Sittings of the Dáil.

I should like to bring to the attention of the Taoiseach the considerable inconvenience occasioned to country Deputies by the fact that we have to sit every week until Friday. I would ask him to consider changing the hours of sitting of the House to the following: Tuesday, from 3 p.m. to 10.30 p.m.; Wednesday, from 3 p.m. to 10.30 p.m., and Thursday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. That would give a total of 22 hours as compared with 22½ hours under the present arrangement. I wonder would the Taoiseach consider favourably this change in the hours of sitting in order to enable country Deputies to go home on Thursday evening?

I suggest that that is a matter that might be discussed with the Whips outside the House.

Very good.
