Vol. 125 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Appointment of Paymasters.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state the number, names and addresses and dates of appointment of paymasters appointed for County Roscommon under the minor employment and emergency schemes; further, if he will state the areas allocated to the various paymasters.

As the reply is in the form of a tabular statement, I propose, with the permission of the Leas-Cheann Comhairle, to have it circulated with the Official Report.

Following is the statement:—

PAYMASTERS APPOINTED BY THE SPECIAL EMPLOYMENT SCHEMES OFFICE FOR COUNTY ROSCOMMON.

Name and Address

Area

Date of Appointment

Michael Reilly, Cloonlyon, Ballygar.

Former Rural Districts of Roscommon, Athlone No. 2 and Ballinasloe No. 2.

17th October, 1950.

James F. McLoughlin, Augh nasurn, Corrigeenroe.

Former Rural Districts of Boyle No. 1, Carrick-on-Shannon No. 2 and Strokestown.

27th November, 1950.

NOTE: A third paymaster was appointed for the area comprised in the former Rural District of Castlerea, but the appointee subsequently declined to act.

I would like to know from the Parliamentary Secretary if it is true that paymasters from outside County Roscommon have been appointed to these positions? If that is so, why is it? Have we not enough men of honesty, integrity and efficiency in Roscommon to fill these positions? I was anxious to get the names and addresses of these men. I do not think it would require much in the way of a tabular statement to give me that information. I should like to know from the Parliamentary Secretary if it is true that some of the appointees are people from outside the County Roscommon?

The Deputy will get the reply in the form of a tabular statement, and if he finds anything wrong with regard to those appointed, and consults me, I will discuss the matter with him.
