Vol. 125 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Anthracite Supplies.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he is aware that there is a scarcity of anthracite and that a great many people are unable to obtain adequate supplies for their households, although other households seem able to obtain plentiful supplies and whether, in view of this unsatisfactory position, he will take steps, if necessary by the introduction of rationing, to see that the available anthracite is more evenly distributed.

I am aware that there were difficulties in getting anthracite during the past winter. It is hoped, however, that there will be a sufficient increase in the supplies of imported anthracite during the present quarter to remove these difficulties and that there will be no necessity to control distribution.
