Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Bacon Pigs.

asked the Taoiseach if he will state the total number of bacon pigs supplied to facon factories during the years 1949 and 1950 and up to the latest date for which figures are available in 1951, and whether any bacon pigs were exported on foot during the same years; and, if so, the number.

The total numbers of pigs received at bacon factories for curing were 546,626 in the year 1949, 668,992 in the year 1950 and 136,416 in the first 15 weeks of 1951, the latest period for which information is available. The numbers of fat pigs (live) exported were 183 in 1949, 830 in 1950 and 64 in the period January-March, 1951.
