Vol. 125 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cost of Fattening Meals

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he is aware of the resolution of protest by the Castlelyons Co-operative Society pointing out that fattening meals have increased by 6/- per cwt. and that this and other contributory causes render the price of bacon as recently fixed so uneconomic as may compel feeders to go out of business and bacon to go off the market; and, if so, what action he proposes to take.

I am aware that a resolution of the nature referred to by the Deputy was passed by the Castlelyons Co-operative Society at its annual general meeting on the 3rd April. I am not prepared to consider any modification of the recent Order fixing maximum prices for bacon.
