Vol. 125 No. 12

Suspension of Deputy—Motion for Discharge.

I have received from Deputy Smith an apology of which I approve. It runs as follows:—

"A Chinn Chomhairle,

I desire to express regret for my behaviour in the Dáil last Thursday in making use of an expression not permitted in the House and in refusing to obey the ruling of the Chair calling for its withdrawal which resulted in my suspension from the service of the House.

I apologise to the House and to you, Sir, and hereby withdraw the offending expression."

Accordingly, I move:—

That the Order of the Dáil of 26th April, suspending Deputy Patrick Smith from the service of the Dáil, be discharged.

Motion put and agreed to.
