Vol. 125 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Number of Creameries.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will state (a) how many new creameries were provided on the advice of the Irish Agricultural Organisation Society in the last 20 years; (b) the number of new creameries provided on the advice of the Dairy Disposal Board in the same period, and (c) the number of creameries closed in the period by both the Irish Agricultural Organisation Society and the Dairy Disposal Board.

The information required by the Deputy is as follows: (a) 31 cream-separating stations; (b) six central creameries, 47 separating stations and 33 travelling creameries; (c) it is not a function of the Irish Agricultural Organisation Society to close creameries. The Dairy Disposal Company closed nine central creameries and 16 separating stations.

Does that include auxiliary creameries also?

I think what the Deputy would call an auxiliary creamery is here technically described as a separating station.
