Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Rural Improvements Scheme.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state (a) the total number of applications received; (b) the number of grants sanctioned, and (c) the total amount of expenditure of grants under the rural improvements scheme to date.

From 1943-44, when the rural improvements scheme was initiated, up to 31st March, 1951 (a) the total number of applications received was 9,673; (b) the total number of grants sanctioned was 5,325; and (c) the total expenditure of State grants for the scheme was £623,284.

The last figure may be subject to some slight adjustment when the 1950-51 accounts are finally audited.
