Vol. 125 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - North Cork Housing Schemes.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is in a position to state when the new housing schemes for the following towns and villages in North Cork are likely to start: (a) Rockchapel; (b) Meelin; (c) Tullylease; (d) Liscarroll; (e) Churchtown; (f) Newtown Shandrum; (g) Kiskeam; (h) Knocknagree; (i) Cullin; (j) Rathcoole; (k) Lombardstown; (l) Glantane; (m) Dromolane; (n) Bawncross, and (o) Ballydesmond.

In five of the areas referred to by the Deputy, namely, Rockchapel, Meelin, Kiskeam, Lombardstown and Bawncross, certain considerations regarding the lay-out or house design were submitted to my Department last week by the county council. A reply will issue to the council this week.

Of the remaining ten cases, three, namely, Newtown Shandrum, Cullin and Ballydesmond, are at the stage of preliminary local survey by the county council prior to the preparation of plans; in two cases, Rathcoole and Glantane, revised plans are awaited, and in five cases, namely, Tullylease, Liscarroll, Churchtown, Knocknagree and Dromolane, the plans have been approved by my Department and the submission of final contract documents is awaited.

The dates on which these schemes will commence will depend on the clearance of all the usual preliminaries.
