Vol. 125 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Pim Ranch—Mayo.

asked the Minister for Lands if he is aware that a number of cattle drives have taken place on the Pim ranch at Newport, County Mayo; if he will state whether he personally promised the local uneconomic holders that these lands would be divided; and, further, if he will state the reason why these lands have not been divided during the past five years.

The answer to the first part of the question is "yes". The Land Commission have under consideration the question of the acquisition of this estate. The decision as to the particular lands to be acquired is an excepted matter.

Would the Minister say how long the Land Commission have had this matter under consideration and when the people concerned can expect some decision?

It has only been under consideration for a matter of a few months.

Would the Minister say what have been the reasons for the delay in the acquisition of this estate for the last three years?
