Vol. 126 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Repair of County Kerry Sea Embankments.

asked the Minister for Lands whether he is aware of the failure of his Department to sanction the carrying through of the scheme for the repair of the sea embankments at Calinafercy West, Marshall estate, County Kerry; and, if so, whether he is now prepared to give an assurance that the matter will be dealt with to the satisfaction of the farmers concerned.

Although the Land Commission have no liability for the repair or maintenance of the embankment in Calinafercy West, they sanctioned expenditure for its repair on the condition that the occupiers of the benefiting lands would make stipulated contributions towards the cost. The persons concerned refused to accept the Land Commission's offer and the work could not be proceeded with. The matter is now being re-examined to ascertain if any modification can be made in the condition as to the amounts of the contributions.
