Vol. 126 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Glencar Forestry Centre.

asked the Minister for Lands whether he is aware of the delay by his Department in making final arrangements for the establishment of a forestry centre at Glencar, County Kerry; and, if so, whether he is now in a position to make a definite statement in the matter.

There has been no relaxation in the efforts of my Department to establish a forestry centre at Glencar. They have continually pressed their negotiations for the purchase of the key area in Lickeen but, although their offer has been accepted, they are as yet unable to obtain possession as the legal formalities have not been completed. When possession of the Lickeen lands has been obtained forestry operations will commence and the question of purchasing other suitable lots in the locality will be immediately taken up.
