Vol. 126 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Loans for Farmers.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will make the necessary arrangements for the issue of loans, free of interest, to farmers who, because of the severe winter and spring and lack of sufficient fodder, suffered heavy losses in their live stock.

Mr. Walsh

There are no funds at my disposal out of which I could make provision for the issue of interest free loans. I am, however, examining the question of extending the existing scheme of loans with a view to providing readier facilities for farmers who may require credit for restocking purposes.
