Vol. 126 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Crookhaven Water Pump.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether he is aware that the public pump at Crookhaven is out of order and is causing grave local hardship, and whether he will urge the local authority to have this matter attended to immediately.

Responsibility in a matter of this kind rests with the county council. Following a previous parliamentary question inquiries were made from the local authority last December when it was understood that a new pump would be erected. I shall have the Deputy's representations communicated to the county council.

In view of the fact that no move has yet been made and that the well is being washed with sea water, will the Minister make his representations to the county council immediately and as strongly as he possibly can?

The Deputy understands, of course, that this matter is the responsibility of the local authority. I will undertake to transmit to the local authority the request which has been made here.
