Vol. 126 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Travelling Creamery Facilities.

asked the Minister for Agriculture whether he will ask the Dairy Disposal Board to provide travelling creamery facilities in the Akista area to relieve the milk impasse that has arisen out of the failure of the Drinagh Co-operative Creamery, Limited, to provide facilities heretofore.

Mr. Walsh

From a preliminary examination I feel rather doubtful whether it would be possible to solve the problem on the lines indicated by the Deputy. I propose, however, to have the whole position investigated afresh in order to ascertain what measures would be practicable.

In view of the fact that it will be necessary in the coming season to get all the available milk we can into the creameries would the Minister undertake to make an investigation of this long outstanding problem, a problem which is not fundamentally the Minister's responsibility at all, in an effort to have its solution speeded up? There is a great deal of dissatisfaction in this area and there is a good deal of milk to be collected in the area if a reasonable approach is made to the problem.

Mr. Walsh

I will have the matter investigated.
