Vol. 126 No. 4

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take business in the following order: Nos. 1, 6, 11, 9 and 7. It is proposed not to interrupt business at 7.30 p.m. to take No. 7, the Finance Bill.

May I ask whether the Taoiseach would be prepared to make Government time available for the discussion of two motions standing in the names of Deputy Tully and myself concerning the admission of elected representatives from the six north-eastern counties to the Dáil and Seanad? These two motions were on the Order Paper before the change of Government and the Taoiseach's predecessor had given an undertaking to the House that he would be prepared to make Government time available for the discussion of these two motions in the course of the present session.

That matter has not yet been considered. If the Deputy will raise the question to-morrow, it may be possible to give a decision.

Certainly.

Will the Tánaiste say if it is proposed to commence business to-morrow at 10.30 a.m.?

Yes.

Resolved: That the Dáil at its rising this day do adjourn until 10.30 a.m. to-morrow, and that the order for the Adjournment on that day be taken at 5 p.m.—(An Tánaiste.)

Can the Tánaiste indicate what day we will sit next week?

Wednesday.

The Taoiseach will recall that at the opening of this Dáil he made a statement to the effect that he would avail of a very early opportunity in this House of expressing appreciation to Deputy Frank Fahy, who was Ceann Comhairle of this House for over 16 years. Might I inquire whether the Taoiseach proposes to put down a motion of appreciation or if he proposes to make a statement to the House and, if so, whether Deputies will get an opportunity of joining in this expression of appreciation? I am of opinion that it would be advisable.

The Deputy can ask a question but he cannot discuss the matter.

Can the Taoiseach say when he proposes to take this up so that Deputies who are interested may be in the House for the expression of appreciation or otherwise?

I do not propose to make any statement.

Or any expression of appreciation.

I have no statement to make.

He has changed his mind about Deputy Fahy.

You expressed yourself already.
