Vol. 126 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Vocational Teachers' Salaries.

asked the Minister for Education whether he will indicate if he is prepared to offer, by way of an increase to the vocational teachers, the award made recently by the Civil Service Arbitration Board, in view of the promise made by the previous Minister at the annual congress of the Vocational Education Officers' Organisation held on 11th May, 1951, that this would be done.

asked the Minister for Education if, in view of the general dissatisfaction amongst vocational teachers due to delay in meeting their claim for an increase in salaries, he will, pending a decision in this matter, implement the promise of the previous Government that the Civil Service Arbitration Board's award would apply to vocational teachers.

With the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, I propose to answer Questions Nos. 43 and 44 together.

I have informed the deputation from the Vocational Education Officers' Organisation on the 30th June last that I am prepared to approve for vocational education officers percentage increases on their salaries in accordance with the Civil Service arbitration award.
