Vol. 126 No. 8

Freshwater Fisheries (Prohibition of Netting) Bill, 1951—First Stage.

Leave granted to introduce a Bill entitled an Act to authorise the making ofex-gratia payments to certain persons in respect of the prohibition of net fishing in fresh water effected by Section 35 of the Fisheries Act, 1939, and to make further provision in relation to compensation payable under sub-section (5) of the said Section 35.— (Minister for Agriculture).

When is it proposed to take the next stage?

In view of the fact that the Bill was introduced by the last Government in May last, and that it is an agreed measure, would it be possible to take it this week?

To-morrow.

I understand that the Bill was withdrawn for the purpose of inserting an amendment.

Yes—and the amendments were agreed also. They will be in the hands of Deputies to-morrow morning.

Second Stage ordered for to-morrow.
