asked the Minister for Finance if he is aware that many important minor drainage schemes in Meath cannot be completed until the drainage of the Boyne and Blackwater is undertaken; and, if so, whether he will state what stage the schemes for the drainage of those rivers have reached and when it is likely that work will commence.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Drainage of the Boyne and Blackwater.
I am not yet in a position to say when a survey of the Rivers Boyne and Blackwater for the purpose of designing a scheme under the Arterial Drainage Act, 1945, can be made, and accordingly it is not possible at present to forecast when actual works on such a scheme can commence.
