Vol. 126 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Erection of Pier—Donegal.

asked the Minister for Finance whether it is proposed to proceed with the erection of a pier at Curransport, County Donegal.

Examination of this proposal has not yet been completed and I regret that I cannot say when a decision will be reached in the matter.

Is the Parliamentary Secretary aware that a similar reply has been given in this House for the past 15 years? Is he further aware that owing to the very primitive conditions obtaining there, the unfortunate fishermen have to carry their fish in creels up rocks at night-time and will he give the matter favourable consideration as soon as possible?

The matter is being given favourable consideration but it cannot be reached until the engineering and marine staff are available. They are already working on a number of schemes round the coast, including schemes in County Donegal.

A Deputy

Fifteen years on these schemes.

Is it in fact correct as Deputy O'Donnell has stated that a similar answer has been given to the same question for 15 years?

I cannot say.

How many times was the answer given by the last Government?
