Vol. 126 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Old I.R.A. Pension Increases.

asked the Minister for Defence if he is aware of the serious plight of many Old I.R.A. pensioners who are trying to exist on small pensions and, in view of the rising cost of living and the serious position of many of those men, if it is his intention to have these pensions reviewed with a view to having them brought into line with the many other State pensioners who had their pensions increased.

I would refer the Deputy to my reply on the 28th ultimo to a question by Deputy Byrne regarding I.R.A. pensions.

Is the Minister aware that the cost of living is the same for the Old I.R.A. pensioners as it is for everybody else? Does he not think that they are entitled to the same increase as everybody else, or are they nobody's children?
